Miranda's Tattoos
|
1st tattoo - Freshman year.
Phoenix: Inked freshman year for my years in high school. Symbolizes the importance and value of overcoming all obstacles and finding the inner fire that propels that ability. Also a reminder to know that sometimes we get exceptionally worn out, but that we are able to bounce back, and that everyone needs rest.

2nd Tattoo - Sophomore year.
Never Be Useless Labrys: Inked sophomore year for my freshman year. A labrys is the tool/defense weapon used by the Amazons which was claimed as a symbol for lesbianism in the 1970's. The hilt of the labrys says "Never Be Useless". My freshman year I fully explored my identity as a lesbian, and its value in my life. I also came up with my mantra, never be useless, which is the guiding light for my life. It reminds me of why I wake up in the morning, and reminds me to take care of myself, so I can be useful to others.

3rd Tattoo - Junior year.
Infinite Balance: Inked junior year for sophomore year. I mixed a yin yang with an infinity sign. My sophomore year I spent looking for and finding balance. I also learned about the infinite balance that all of life is operating under, even if we don't see or understand it.

4th Tattoo - Senior year.
Question Mark: Inked for Junior year. Through everything that I learned as an RA, the most evident lesson is that there are always questions and that there will never be a time where I know everything. I need to keep in mind that things, my self, society, my motives, my vindications, can and should be questioned and I need to be able to always answer the question "why?" for what I do or think. This is especially important when answering this question for myself because the only person who will, with out doubt, always be in my life is me. |
